Title:  Grace Alone: Introducing Galatians
Scripture: Galatians 1:1-5

Description:  This letter was written to address very specific challenges for a specific group of people at a specific point in time. But Paul's words about the gospel speak directly questions that are crucial for our lives, too. Galatians helps us understand what the gospel is (and isn't), what the gospel means for who we are, and what the gospel means for how we live.

Title:  The Testing Of Israel And The Temptation Of Christ
Scripture: Matthew 4:1-11

Description:  In the story of the Exodus, God's people Israel were tested in the wilderness for 40 years. In the New Testament, Jesus was tempted in the wilderness for 40 days. Israel repeatedly turned away from their Father in Heaven, but Jesus faced his temptation without sin. In this Jesus shows that He is the Son of God. And as the Son of God who was perfect, Jesus' death and resurrection purchased for us the right to be called children of God.

Title:  Memory Matters
Scripture: Psalm 78

Description:  We’ve heard it said that those who fail to remember the past are doomed to repeat it. That’s why the psalmist calls us to remember God’s faithfulness and warns us about the cost of forgetfulness. Even so, we see God’s ultimate faithfulness—that he has not forgotten us—through the work of Christ.

Title:  The Lord Of Life
Scripture: Exodus 20:13

Description:  Human life is precious because God says it is. That means none of us has the right to take the life of anyone else. But there's far more to the sixth commandment than avoiding murder. If we've experienced the life-affirming, life-saving grace of God in the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus, we will want to follow his lead in protecting and promoting vulnerable lives wherever we can.
